At the age of 80, Huang Gongwang stopped by the Fuchun River,

On all sides of the Fuchun River, there are ten peaks with different shapes, hundreds of trees, and different poses.

Huang Gongwang traveled all over the Fuchun River, carrying a picture scroll and carrying dry food all the way. The fishing boat sang late, the woodcutter returned late, the mountains and forests were silent, and the water without trace became the footnotes of his life. It took a man four years to talk quietly with the river valley.

Zhang Daqian has lived overseas for many years, and the more he is in his old age, the more homesick he is. Therefore, the mountains and rivers of the motherland often appear in his paintings. He "sleeps" the mountains and rivers of the motherland through his own paintings to solve his homesickness. "Yangtze River Wanli Tu" is produced in such a mood. The painting was carefully drawn for the 80th birthday of his friend Zhang Qun. Zhang Daqian was seventy years old and was moving to Brazil.

Zhang Daqian is a native of Sichuan. His long scroll starts from the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in Sichuan. The open scroll is the iron cable bridge in Dujiangyan. Then the Yangtze River flows down, crossing the Three Gorges, crossing Jiangling, embracing all rivers, and finally throwing itself into the arms of the sea. The painting is divided into ten sections to paint ten scenic spots of Minjiang River, Jialing River, Yichang, Wuhan, Poyang Lake, Huangshan, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Wusongkou, etc., which can be independently drawn into pictures and connected, regardless of the houses along the coast, Zhoufan, Shanlan, Yunwu, Yuanshan, near water, forest waterfall, city wall and other scenery along the way.

The 30-meter-long layout mainly shows the endless movement and space in a bird' s-eye view, bringing different time and space perspectives into the same visual space, which clearly shows the cosmology of Chinese culture. The sparse and dense light and dark arrangements on the screen are absolutely free from monotonous repetition, and there is a sense of integrity in one go. The picture gives a feeling of moisture and verdant, which shows the rich, deep and gloomy scenery of the south of the Yangtze River to be extremely moving, and at the same time presents Zhang Daqian's profound humanistic feelings.

The form of expression of the work is a traditional Chinese hand scroll, which integrates Zhang Daqian's life style and techniques, splashing ink, splashing color, using pens, dyeing, shady and wet, flowing, sinking, dry printing and other techniques to create the Yangtze River The vast and winding momentum of the landscape. One of his special achievements in this work is to integrate the rich green color and artistic style into the brush and ink of the literati landscape. It not only adopts the techniques of traditional landscape painting, such as breaking ink, accumulating ink, and splashing ink, but also integrates the splashing method of Western painting, forming a style of "splashing and writing, blending color and ink", which is also the main painting style of Zhang Daqian in his later years. It has a strong personality, heroic and unrestrained, majestic and boundless, under the exhibition volume, thousands of streams are surging, and thousands of rocks are. It can be said that the author's lifelong love for the integration, collation and summary of countless emotional experiences of the Yangtze River landscape.

"A Thousand Mile of the Yangtze River" reproduces the magnificent beauty of the mountains and rivers of the motherland, and praises the great courage of the Chinese nation that is not afraid of difficulties and obstacles. The whole picture is full of the author's strong patriotism and nostalgia.

In July 1979, the Taipei History Museum exhibited "A Thousand Mile of the Yangtze River", and more than 6000 audiences embraced the future.

Huang Gongwang completed the "Fuchun Mountain Residence" in 4 years, and Zhang Daqian completed the "Yangtze River Wanli Map" in 10 days, all because of the different conditions of the author at that time,

For us, the practical value of Zhang Daqian's "A Thousand Mile Map of the Yangtze River" is greater than that of "Fuchun Mountain Residence".
