The folk houses in southern Fujian are often called "houses", and there is a kind of building that imitates the style of "imperial palace", that is, red brick houses. The poem describes the characteristics of the red brick house, which is called "red brick from the stone double dials, out of the brick into the stone dovetail ridge; Carved beams and painted buildings, palace stones, earth buildings and wooden buildings blend Chinese and Western." The exquisite carvings of the red brick house often represent the more mature sculpture art in southern Fujian at that time. among them, the red brick carvings are set on the "mirror wall" on the front of the whole residential building. when the guests do not enter the door, they can understand the aesthetic taste and cultural temperament of the owner of the ancient house through the red brick carvings. therefore, the red brick carvings are regarded as "the facade of the ancient house"
