Li Zanwen and its "balance"
Every time Li Zanwen is mentioned, he can't get around his "balance".
I saw earrings with two suspended magnets hanging in a magazine. I drew an oval with a base in my notebook with two balls hanging on it... "The concept of balance was born from this.

This is what I want

"This is a desk lamp, this is what I want"
At night, I reported to my mentor (Zhang Jian)
"Can this TM be realized?" The teacher asked me while smoking.
"No problem," I said
"Then do it." My tutor turned his head and left with a cigarette.

In this way, I verified the switch several times and made a grass mold. The wooden frame was made by the master. The master burst a wooden frame because the craft was too complicated and connected the wrong base again. The two collapsed. I bought a watermelon on my bicycle to comfort him. The process had twists and turns but went smoothly.

After the completion, I called it magic balls. my classmates felt bad. later, I called it "heng | HENG" and now it is renamed HENGPRO.

Growth is an extra responsibility and responsibility.

Old worker: what is the biggest change brought to you when you became famous?

Li Zanwen: In fact, there is no change. I can see myself more clearly and know what I can do and what I can't do. Later, I started a company with my partners, and many like-minded designers made products together. Because of trust, the responsibility and responsibility behind it are greater.

Old worker: Have you ever worried that the later design works will no longer surpass the popularity of "Heng?

Li Zanwen: Yes. We have 7-8 products with many partners, and the market sales are also good, ranging from ballpoint pens to B- end commercial routers and other projects. We have also won all the awards.

I also often discuss good products on the market by designers. With the eyes of designers, they are simply and rudely divided into three categories: the first is that it can be sold basically and can be circulated in the market; the second is the product that is popular and popular; the third is to form the "symbolic" language of enterprise products, or the DNA of products.

Of these three, designers must not misunderstand, not to say that there are levels or levels. It depends on your creative state and life situation at that time. The latter two can be met but cannot be found. At this stage, we want to return to products more, do more and more new products, which state we can achieve, market feedback, it is difficult to say now.

Aesthetics is the upper limit of designer's ability.

Old Worker: What are the differences in your understanding of design since you came into contact with design?
Li Zanwen: Aesthetics is the upper limit of designer's ability. Master moves, spell intelligence, not physical strength.

A cry and a straight-up resistance

Old worker: At the end of 2019, we also paid attention to your articles on safeguarding rights. From HENG to HENGPRO, how do you think designers should protect their labor achievements?
Li Zanwen: From HENG to HENGPRO, it was a cry and a straight-up resistance. This is our attitude towards originality.

Chinese designers have too little awareness of intellectual property rights.

During the three years of safeguarding my rights, I found that many designers have no awareness of intellectual property rights and do not know how to protect themselves. For example, many university graphic teachers teach students not to know what fonts look good. They use helvetica in English and Microsoft Yahei in Chinese. However, if you go to business in a commercial environment, these are all infringements. Even many graduates have not applied for patents for their graduation designs.

The graduation season is approaching. After the epidemic, we are also contacting several cooperative lawyers and intellectual property agents, hoping to bring intellectual property into the school. We are also contacting teachers from various schools to form public welfare lectures, so as to bury a seed for designers who will enter the society in the future and have a sword to protect themselves.

Old worker: We found that many of your works are daily necessities. We can feel that you are a person who is good at observing life and meticulous. So how do you define the relationship between design and life?

Li Zanwen: There is no distinction between my life and work. My interests are all divergent around the design, which is very boring and monotonous. I especially like to observe people's behavior and have been studying products brought about by behavioral attributes. It reflects character, class and occupation.
For example, before I saw girls with long hair eating: girls with large jaws would hold the tail of two hair tips with one hand and eat with the other. Lori will hold down her bangs. Royal elder sister will long hair to one side, side face, exposed neck; Confident generous girls will tie ponytail with direct hair bands (or may not wash their hair). Behavioral reaction psychology, which corresponds to each girl, what should we do to make hairpins for these girls or solve the problem when eating? I believe that everyone can find the answer by diverging and focusing, and can design methods such as modeling, behavior and unconsciousness.

I have been studying handbags, that is, many business owners like to put their handbags under their armpits. This is a magical product with professional attributes. Larger than a wallet, much smaller than a schoolbag. Because the boss usually has car keys, home keys, multi-card certificates and several mobile phones in his handbag. Therefore, in this class, the handbag solves the pain point of their storage and is reasonable.


Old worker: During your stay in school, you won many excellent awards at home and abroad, and many students are also very interested in your learning methods. How did you learn and design during your stay in school? Do you have any good suggestions for everyone?

Li Zanwen: They are all very simple methodologies: look more, practice more, think more, improve aesthetics and practice crafts well. Suggested words: take the initiative in everything and cultivate the ability to learn actively.

I watched a scene in "Journey to the West" on TV the year before last:
"Sun Wukong learned magic with his classmates, and the master knocked on Sun Wukong's head three times... In the middle of the night, Sun Wukong went to find his master to learn art. He told his master that he knocked three times and told me to come to you in the middle of the night. His master smiled..."
Isn't it far-fetched, but if you are the role of "master", a silly apprentice will explain it this way, so active and easy to learn, would you like to teach this apprentice more?

Old Worker: What kind of design do you think is a good design? What is the definition of good design?

Li Zanwen: There are many good design standards. I am thinking that a good design is that when you look at it, you can describe it in a few words, form outlines and symbol memories in your mind, and be willing to spread it.
We have always adhered to the design tenet of "good design does not necessarily change the world, but bad design will definitely ruin the fun of life", and tried various tricks of "focusing on small things and seeing big from small to small.

Old Worker: What kind of profession do you think designers are? Or what kind of designer do you want to be in the future?

Li Zanwen: I want to integrate this problem into a problem. How can I become a more "professional" designer? The problem of "professionalization" has always been in my mind this year. I want our designers to be more professional. Professional, just like professional boxers can't touch women before the game, boxing is deadly on the field; professional racers memorize maps before the game, and practice on the ground, in order to compete every second. Why do you want to do this? Because design is a long-term test of physical and mental strength. Using a higher-dimensional thinking to reduce the dimension is also to make your design more brilliant.

Old worker: If you can go back to 2016, will you still choose the same path as you do now? What do you want to change most?

Li Zanwen: It's very interesting. I thought about this problem before. For example, there is a parallel universe to save myself who has fallen in another time and space in the past... But how did it end? No one can guess the ending.
Rationally, if I go back to 2016, I will not change anything, because there will be other unexpected butterfly effects.
"Let's not look back, 'When you encounter problems, solve problems' is not a designer's profession, why should you put yourself in regret and chagrin, don't be unintelligent when things happen, and do it if you don't accept it"!
