A lantern illuminates the way forward.
Speaking of which, it was in December 1934. The First Red Army passed through the ancient village of the Taro Dong nationality. The people in the village hid in the mountains because of the negative propaganda of the Kuomintang against the Red Army. However, Yang Zaineng was bold and stayed in the stockade alone. He secretly observed the Red Army and found that the Red Army would give silver dollars when it came to rice and firewood, which was not as advertised by the Kuomintang. So he came out to help lead the way at the request of the Red Army and took the initiative to take the burden to help the Red Army cross the mountains. Later, the Red Army gave him a lantern and some self. After Yang was able to go back, he told the villagers the matter. Later, the Red Army passed by. The villagers all took the initiative to help the Red Army.
This incident also profoundly affected Yang Zaineng's descendants. His son and grandson joined the army. The lantern donated by the Red Army also became a witness to the three generations of Red Army sentiment, and was later donated by Yang Zaineng's son to the Passage Transfer Memorial Hall.
This lantern is based on the lantern shape given by the Red Army to Yang Zai Neng. The five stars on the red background represent the supreme interests of the country and the lofty spirit of the Long March; the connection is printed with the traditional patterns of the Dong nationality, which echoes the five stars above, representing the Dong people and the people of the whole country, uniting around the party and the country, and making efforts and struggles for the victory of the Long March and; the lamp body is printed with auspicious clouds, which indicates the endless growth and prosperity of the country. The switch is printed with the five-star pattern of red hearts with yellow borders commonly used by the PLA, symbolizing that the people's army is the strong shield of the country and the people and ensuring people's happy life. The bronzing ripples on the base also symbolize the difficulties and glorious course of the Red Army's Long March.
This is a long march souvenir designed by me based on what I felt and thought during the inspection of taro ancient village. I also hope that the spirit of the long march can shine on this land I love forever.
