"There used to be images and fragments of movies in my memory, and a new montage is performed in the present with abstract fragments." The designer first created a concrete impulse to destroy reality in the entrance lobby of the cinema-comparing the Big Bang-like light with debris, across the still dark void. These seemingly gravity-free fragments, like unfolding thoughts, spread concretely to the entire public space, deconstructing the foundation of building points, lines and surfaces, as if they were endless lovers, and like psychedelic stars. Spaces of different properties are piled up with different materials, and they are interspersed and inseparable. Visitors walk in such a fragmented space, watching themselves through different reflective surfaces, instantly blending with the environment, becoming a flowing image, overlapping, blurring, and gradually disappearing. Those seemingly similar stories constantly stimulate the visitors' subconscious in the depths of memories, explaining their lives with speed, passion, desire, colorful images and laughter. Shanghai 118 Cinema has two floors with a total area of 4070 square meters and eight screening halls. The design of different studios continues the fragmented technique and creates various spatial patterns. By breaking the complete space, it expresses the jump of time and space dimension in the film narrative, and at the same time, it is also used to remember the remaining beautiful traces. This romantic humanistic thought, through the avant-garde natural space design, makes people in it think about the role of film art in a city like Shanghai, and also responds to the collective identity and individual consciousness in historical changes.
