Xinhua Three All-Optical Minimalist Switch Series Won the 2023 Contemporary Good Design Award
Under the background of large-scale cluster computing in the AIGC era, massive data exchange between 10,000 servers and hundreds of millions of computing parallelism are required. Switches are important network devices for a new generation of infrastructure. They are responsible for data aggregation and forwarding in the network. They are mainly used in data centers, parks, industries and other fields. As a link between individuals, families and society, they span education, medical care, finance and other industries. Because the application scenarios are extremely extensive, products that are recognizable and can be integrated into various different usage scenarios are required to meet a large number of network construction requirements.
At the beginning of the project, the design team conducted all-round research on the product style and product shape of the competition, and explored the differentiation of existing switch products in the industry to seek breakthrough points in the design. In the process of research and analysis, the convex and concave team analyzed the product style and positioning of Xinhua three's own products in all aspects, and created a new product with visual impact. To study the CMF of Xinhua Three's own products and related industries, the convex and concave designers analyzed the color logic of Xinhua Three's existing products and the development status of CMF in related industries.
Based on the product's size definition, the research analysts conducted in-depth research on the installation environment and other factors of the Xinhua 3 switch, and simultaneously excavated the size pain points of the competing products. By analyzing and summarizing a variety of size influencing factors, the size definition of the product is optimized. The socket size, internal devices and stacked competitors will be defined in the same step of analysis and discussion, so as to determine the basic size of the product: length, width and height. By studying the influence of the combination of different expansion modules on the size, the team unified the size of each switch in the design, so that the expansion modules can fit well when used. The designers also listed the stacking scheme of each module, simulated the stacking effect of each module with manual pattern, tried different combinations, and intuitively felt the visual effects of different combinations, so as to deduce the optimal size scheme.
Most of the switches do not have a reasonable line management function, resulting in cable exposure caused by clutter, unsightly and security risks and other issues. The installation position of the switch is basically to enter the weak current box, wall surface, table bottom/screen, holding pole, cabinet and other positions. The installation method is mainly fixed by means of punching holes on the hanger, which will harm the aesthetics of the environmental wall surface, tables, screens and other items. Divergence of industry trends, mining and screening out a large number of industry trend keywords, and from different fields to find products that can meet the interpretation of these keywords.
According to the previous research results, the convex and concave designers diverged their thinking and showed it quickly in the way of sketches. Based on the concept of "light order", through the ladder, texture and other elements, the design concept of upward ladder is refined, the visual PI elements of the whole switch system are sorted out, and the visual style of the whole system is established.

When the conceptual design scheme is further refined, we think about how to better optimize the combination of product design and function, help users to quickly dismantle and install, and at the same time, the visual appearance is elegant. The design team thought deeply about different pain points, put forward different design optimization schemes, and finally created a new and upgraded Xinhua Three All-Optical Minimal Switch Series with a sense of equipment and experience.

From AI quality inspection of industrial scenes, to CT scanning of medical scenes, and to the increasing diversification of application scenes in parks, higher requirements are put forward for the network. In order to meet the different needs of hospitals, enterprises, schools, finance and other industries and scenes, the simple step stripe design is soft and light, and the light level symbolizes more efficient and rapid product attributes, forming a new family design language of Xinhua Three. When multiple products are placed side by side, an infinitely expanded visual effect will be formed, representing the wireless expansion capability of the optical level switch.

The project team designed the product's proportional modeling and texture, product interface, heat dissipation holes and other details to make the all-optical minimalist series break the heavy equipment sense of traditional switch products and help the switch series products to perfectly integrate into different public scenes visually.

Through the disassembly and installation of the panel, the design team can quickly plug and unplug the network cable while ensuring that the network cable socket and connector are not exposed, which not only increases the convenience of use and maintenance but also ensures the aesthetics of the product under normal conditions.
According to the product status when the upper and lower stacking expansion and the left and right tiling expansion are used, the internal routing of switches of different models and sizes is considered, and scientific and effective routing methods are excavated to help users find the corresponding lines more simply and quickly in the process of installation and maintenance.

Switches often need to be installed in combination with products of different sizes when in use. The installation method between two products of different sizes needs to be simple and quick, and easy to disassemble and assemble.
The design team abandoned the traditional screw installation and adopted the buckle fixing method. The installation and disassembly are extremely convenient and fast, and can be completed with one buckle and one buckle.
The product ladder design language allows different modules to expand at will, and at the same time makes the overall product more harmonious and unified.
