Double Badger
Double Electric Kart, Industrial Design, 2022
/
As early as 2018, we started the design of the Badger series of electric karts. We have successively designed Baby Badger, Kid Badger, Mini Badger, Running Badger and other models, and completed the iteration of Baby and Kid models. The product line fully covers users over 5 years old. At the end of 2021, the industrial design department and the sales department jointly visited more than 20 go-kart tracks in China to plan the design of the two-person go-kart and complete the last piece of the Badger series puzzle.
At the beginning of the project, the design department took the lead in determining the product structure of the two-wheel motor. Through a well-thought-out layout design, Double Badger finally integrates a variety of control technologies, making the "car-site operation-technical support" seamless collaboration, greatly reducing operating labor costs and maintenance costs.

The two-person kart design provides an opportunity for a shared driving experience. For many people, participating in sports with friends, family or partners is a social activity, and the two-person design makes this experience more intuitive and fun. How to make the two drivers interact safely while driving is a major design challenge for the team.
Before the start of the design, we conducted expert interviews and field surveys, personally driving experience and video recording the driving status of ordinary players, and collected user feedback and needs. This will help us to allocate the driver's workload reasonably and predict the "human-human" interaction and "human-machine" interaction logic.
The biggest complaint of players about the existing two-man karts is that they cannot reasonably distribute the workload of the two drivers during driving, causing one party to fall into a state of watching while driving. On the other hand, even if the two-person kart can provide more power for steering, it still lacks flexibility due to the large wheelbase. Also, it is difficult to reverse after a collision.
Finally, we stacked the two batteries on both sides between the seats. A control module can now be placed above the battery. In order to further reduce the width of the car, we increased the height of the sides of the car, the open seat into a "cockpit 」. Therefore, the design focus from the top to the larger area of the side.
Thank you for watching :)
