FUGO-Future Transportation Designed for Beijing
-
FUGO, the car-sharing concept aims to improve Beijing's traffic problems by reducing the use of private cars. It provides excellent mobility for users who need to travel long distances in the city (mainly small families of 3-4 people) and reduces the impact of air pollution through its filtration system. The steering wheel in the car is equipped with a multimedia touch screen, and the driver can control the vehicle as intuitively and safely as possible. The concept car is also equipped with an adjustable driving seat that can be rotated to the door when getting on and off the car to maximize comfort. Considering the general situation in Beijing, most families have two children, and the rear seats are designed to accommodate two children or an adult. The storage space next to the rear seats improves the accessibility and loading speed in the car, allowing users to easily place debris.

Project Scope

Beijing is the capital of China and is often associated with severe traffic jams. From the perspective of urban planning, it is caused by a significant imbalance in the functional structure. Although business opportunities are currently excessively concentrated in urban centers and living space is forced to suburbanization, most suburbs are difficult to meet basic needs such as quality education, medical care and food supply. This prompted residents of these areas to travel to the city more frequently. Unbalanced urbanization, high-density population density and increasing number of cars have become the main causes of serious traffic congestion. Of all these reasons, government research shows that reducing personal vehicles may be a potential but promising solution. Because, due to the low utilization rate of car space, private cars are often vehicles that account for most of the road.
Beijing is mainly known as China's capital and is often associated with overwhelming traffic congestion. This results from the fact that its functional structure is significantly unbalanced from an urban planning standpoint. While the business opportunities are currently over-centralized in the heart of the city and happened to be expanding further, the living space is forced to be suburbanized at the same time. Yet, most suburbs aren't able to fulfill basic needs such as education, medical care, and grocery supplies. This results in motivating residents from such areas to travel to the urban district even more often. The uneven urbanization, high population density, and the increasing number of vehicles have then become the leading causes of serious traffic congestion. And among all of these rationales, the governments' research reveals that the reduction of personal vehicles can be a potential yet promising solution - since, due to the low occupancy, private vehicles are often the ones that take up the majority of the roads.

In order to advocate the concept of energy conservation, emission reduction and green travel, Beijing has stipulated the holding of personal vehicles (lottery mode, probability is 2%), and limited the travel date (average 3 days a week), which makes car-free families and people who need short-distance or short-distance travel face great difficulties.
In order to advocate the concept of energy-saving, emission reduction, and green travel, the Beijing municipality has regulated the possession of personal vehicles (lottery-ba-sed, odds: 2%) and limited one's traveling dates(3 days/week on average), which makes car-free families (who never receive car-purchasing permission)and citizens who need to travel for short-to-medium distances undergo extreme difficulties.
