Old buildings have been transformed into long-term rental apartments for international youth. This is an emerging industry in Shanghai in the past two years. Architects strive to explore the characteristics and beauty of the original buildings, and use cheap materials to create interesting spaces. The facade of the whole building uses the components of the original building to create a warm entrance with white and wood combined with lights. The foyer of the project is also a coffee bar during the day and a small bar for young people at night. As the facade of the building can only open a limited number of door and window holes, the only window combines the function of beverage delivery. The hall/bar style is to build a "underground original music bar" feeling, so the design is almost entirely presented with concrete paint. The large area of gray and warm lights make the whole space very cool, and the cheap materials do not make the space appear simple. Now this project has been in operation for more than two years and is very popular with young people around it.
