The magnificence of the structure and the natural warmth of wood are blended. Catholicism is a religion that came from the West, but this cathedral used the pattern covering the walls and the ceiling with glulam to penetrate the East and the West so that the Korean sensibility can coexist. This is the concept of double layers, in which gaps were placed between the walls. This was intended to add a sense of depth to volumes while taking charge of the sound absorption function.
