Palmello is an adaptive scissors operated by palm pressure, designed for arthritis patients and those with limited fine motor skills. Traditional scissors designs require repetitive finger movements, bending of the wrist, and bending of the fingers when holding the handle or ring, which can lead to musculoskeletal problems. These challenges often discourage individuals with hand problems from using scissors in everyday tasks. Palmello recognize this and introduce a new interaction approach and ergonomic design designed to improve usability for all users.
The working principle of the Palmello is similar to that of a hand gripper, with a simple squeezing action to make the blade move. The built-in curved hinge provides a spring action to ensure that the blade opens automatically when the handle is released. The handle mechanism is designed to be universal for both hands and helps maintain the neutral position of the wrist during the cutting process.
Security is ensured by a blade locking mechanism, which is equipped with a sliding button to lock the blade when it is not in use. The Palmello combines unique aesthetic design with functionality, reflecting the people-oriented design principle. case from the official website of the red dot award, only for case sharing.
