The Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen was established in November 2018 and has become another world-class design cultural landmark in China. This is the third Red Dot Design Museum in the world after the Red Dot Design Museum Essen and the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore. It is also the only Red Dot Design Museum that has a complete collection of the three awards of the Red Dot Design Award.

The world's largest airport museum

The Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen was transformed from the original T2 terminal of Xiamen Gaoqi Airport, covering an area of 10,000 square meters. It should be the largest airport museum in the world. The architectural design of the museum is based on the concept of flight trajectory. Every visitor enters the museum like a plane flying, connecting the movement lines of people and people, forming countless flight trajectories.

The first Red Dot Design Museum covering three Red Dot Design Awards

The museum consists of two floors, with a total of more than 4,500 ㎡ of net exhibition space. Among them, the award-winning works exhibited in the permanent exhibition hall come from 70 countries and regions around the world, covering the red dot product design award, the red dot design concept award and the red dot communication design award, showing the top level of design in various fields and the innovative thinking of designers and design teams, so that designers and enterprises can understand the current international industrial design trend.

In addition to the three permanent exhibitions, the Red Dot Design Museum Xiamen specially plans to display the annual special exhibition of the latest winning works of the three awards of the Red Dot Award in a special exhibition hall of 1,500 ㎡, directly hitting the design trends, material trends and market trends of the world's latest product design, communication design and conceptual design, presenting the top level of design in various fields and the innovative thinking of designers and design teams. At the same time, more than 10 internationally renowned design exhibitions are introduced every year, and join hands with various outstanding design brands to present top-notch brand designs, bringing multi-level and multi-field exhibitions such as new fields, cross-border cooperation, design classics, emerging markets, and social design.

The First Red Dot Design Library and Red Dot Design Salon

The Red Dot Design Salon Space is located on the second floor of the museum. According to the concept of "the second working space of the creative person", the 1,000 ㎡ space is transformed into a comfortable creative shared space to serve creative workers and tourists. Compared with the current shared space, the Red Dot Design Salon is more professional. It has the world's first Red Dot Design Library, providing the world's latest design books, the most complete Red Dot publishing works, and the Red Dot previous award-winning works query system.

The only thing is that there are more than 100 models and 300 award-winning works distributed in 18 areas of the Red Dot Design Salon to provide experience and use, allowing users to intuitively enjoy the changes in life brought by design in work and leisure. The annual Red Dot Product Design Award attracts 17,000 entries from 70 countries. Red Dot Institute divided it into 4 fields: Doing production, Working work, Living life and Enjoying entertainment. Red Dot Design Salon is used for planning, spatial layout and design, systematically presenting red dot award-winning products, and making people directly use and experience from these four real needs, and feel the functional quality, charm quality, use quality and responsibility quality of each red dot award-winning work.
