This is a private project in 2019. The product uses 45C high-rate polymer lithium battery. Party A needs to share the existing mature PCB and battery modules and screens. It requires low mold cost, easy assembly and certain differentiation from market products.
After research and discussion, my team and I believe that the design semantics of products can be derived from four aspects, including similar products, peer products, product application environment and product audience. In the end, we decided that the product design should have the following characteristics.
First, consider similar products, namely mobile power. Compared to the car start power, mobile power in the design is very rich and excellent. The appearance design of the existing mobile power supply is mainly concise, so it is unwise to compete with the appearance of this field in a limited time. Simple design is difficult to highlight the industry attributes. Taking into account the situation of Party A's factory, we believe that this project must have a strong industry attribute.
Second, consider peer products, which usually have industry attributes, but have serious homogenization problems. My team and I proposed to adopt symbolic design, which can not only occupy specific symbols, but also lay the foundation for the continuity of future products.
Third, consider the product application environment. This product is designed for feeding cars, so the car decoration should be referenced in the design process to incorporate the car impression in local details and color matching.
Fourth, consider the product audience. According to Party A's many years of customer experience and industry data, we understand that the product audience is mainly the 8090 generation of male audience. The 8090 generation has a common interest and memory for mecha sci-fi equipment, such as "cosmic knight" and "gundam.
Based on the above four points, we decided that the design semantics of the product should be mecha, symbolic, young and sharp. The specific design will include the large modeling design of inlaid packages. The large body and the two side strips not only have symbolic significance, but also have the characteristics of assembly structure and functional space division. In terms of details, we will add some regular small textures with coarse middle, while in terms of color matching, we will emphasize the side strips and large body to highlight the symbolic design.
The design process itself is very interesting, not only for our designers, but also for Party A and production. Since this is a private project and the team members are generally lazy, there is little documentation of the design process.
