The library built by MVRDV in Tianjin, China is nearing completion. The 34,200 square meter building is part of the new coastal cultural center. The master plan of the project is designed by the German construction company GMP. A "cultural corridor" connects it with the other four buildings. The library revolves around a mirror spherical lecture hall. Together with the central patio, the lecture hall forms an "eye", which can intuitively view the panoramic view of the indoor space and reflect the beautiful scenery of the park in front of the building. The Tiantian-style bookshelf runs through the central patio and echoes the sphere; it brings the user all the way into the center of the library, and then forms a shading grid around the building. This cultural project is designed for Tianjin Binhai District and is expected to open to the public in mid-to-late 2017.
