Project background: ECMO, namely extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also known as "artificial lung", is mainly used to draw venous blood out of the body, discharge carbon dioxide in the blood through oxygenator oxygen and pump it back to the human body to maintain the normal cardiopulmonary function of patients. Although it can not play a therapeutic role, it can strive for more treatment time for medical staff. However, the number of domestic ECMO is small, and it has been monopolized by foreign medical groups for a long time. Not only is the equipment cost high, but also the cost of starting consumables is very expensive. And all this high consumption has changed after the advent of domestic ECMO.
Innovative Value: The ECMO system developed by Rococo Helps Lung Shield Medical has recently successfully completed a registered animal test, further verifying its safety and effectiveness, and pushing the Lung Shield Medical ECMO system into a new stage of development. At the same time, Lung Shield Medical's stacked membrane oxygenator has achieved good operation for 16 days, a major breakthrough compared to the industry's best 14 days, providing a more reliable solution for long-term cardiopulmonary support.
Stacked membrane design: due to the high replacement cost of oxygenator and the problems of leakage and infection that may occur during the replacement process, the clinical use cycle of oxygenator is also put forward higher requirements. The gas exchange membrane of the traditional membrane oxygenator adopts a winding method similar to web paper, which has problems such as long blood circulation path, high transmembrane pressure difference, and easy formation of thrombus between membranes. It is more suitable for short-term extracorporeal circulation in traditional extracorporeal surgery. Lung Shield Medical is the first domestic stacked membrane oxygenator, which adopts vertical and horizontal overlapping design, with shorter blood circulation path, larger cross section, more uniform blood distribution and lower transmembrane pressure difference, it greatly prolongs the clinical use time and is relatively more suitable for long-term cardiopulmonary bypass.
Optimization iteration: At the beginning of product development, Lung Shield Medical aimed at the McKewei PLS extracorporeal circulation package, which is known as the "industry gold standard", to further optimize the flow field design on the basis of similar laminated membrane design, and to achieve iterative optimization in core performance. By optimizing the flow field design, such as relatively increasing the position of the oxygenator's blood inlet and outlet and shortening the blood inlet and outlet channel, the transmembrane pressure difference of the lung shield medical oxygenator is only 38mmHg(5L), which is significantly smaller than the 90-110mmHg(5L) of the traditional oxygenator, effectively reducing blood cell damage, short blood path, more uniform blood flow channel distribution, and higher gas exchange and heat exchange efficiency.
