colorlamb is a DTC brand that focuses on women's individual care, and its main products are women's shaving knives. At present, there are about four kinds of hair removal products for women on the market, including hair removal cream, laser hair removal instrument, hair removal knife and hair removal beeswax.
Considering the convenience of chemical stimulation, price, convenience of use, etc., the hair removal knife always has a fixed user group, and the acceptance of similar products and brands abroad is also very high.
The overall brand tone of colorlamb is summed up in one sentence as "ocean and life", which comes from the inspiration of the whole brand, leaf sheep "leaf sheep", which is a marine mollusk similar in appearance but capable of photosynthesis.
Therefore, the product design also takes the ocean as the starting point. When I was in school, I especially liked an animated movie called "Finding Nemo". The clownfish character in it left a deep impression on me-it was actually a lovely character, right?
The direct use of Finding Nemo in brand promotion is of course an infringement, so I named this product-clownfish in shells.
At the beginning of the design, the most difficult problem has actually been solved-the cutter head.
It is hard to imagine what is difficult when you are not in contact with this industry.
However, it was later discovered that with a simple blade, the gap between us and foreign countries is still not small. From the composition of steel, blade grinding to assembly. The differences in blade sharpness and durability shown in this are difficult to smooth in a short time.
Therefore, as a domestic brand, we still decided to purchase cutter heads directly from abroad at the initial stage of the brand, which also greatly increased our cost.
In order to hide the key to replace the cutter head, I used a whole piece of soft glue to wrap the whole handle in the final assembly, forming a hidden key to ensure the integrity of the organic form of the product.
Unlike the use area of male razors is only on the face, the use area of female razors covers the whole body.
In addition, because the head of a female shaver is surrounded by skin care soap, the head area is relatively large, which makes it not so convenient to shave some narrow areas.
I found a place on the back of the cutter head where the clamping point can be made. Through the connector designed by myself, the cutter head can be locked at a nearly vertical angle, so that low-amplitude and high-frequency shaving can be performed.
It is estimated that most users do not actually use this function at all, but it can provide a design availability without increasing costs. Why not.

There are several good designs for portable shavers on the market, but I really can't bear the way of showing the B- level surface of plastic parts directly to women when a single one is opened.
So I referred to the shell design of the wireless headset to make the interior of the storage box harmonious enough.
The design of the packaging was to use a simple heaven and earth cover at first.
However, during the model review, we found that people's formal feedback on this design was not bad.
So I decided not to block it and try to show the product itself, that is, using the current PVC packaging.
Looking back on the whole product research and development, in fact, there are still many problems, from the supply chain to the design itself.
As a designer, I worked as a customer service for two or three months at the online sales end.
The advantage of facing consumers directly is that we can know which part of the product is finally accepted by consumers and which part we ignore but have problems. So that you can stop being a self-excited designer.
The results achieved will be forgotten as soon as possible, and the problems encountered will be taken seriously. These gains will be digested and absorbed before being put into the next design.
