The fascia gun is a massage product mainly used to treat muscle soreness. Its principle is to accelerate blood circulation and reduce back and shoulder pain through muscle stimulation caused by severe shock.
Is there any innovation opportunity for this product, which is quite common now, and where did the design team get the relevant design opportunities?
With this product, the goal of the design team is to meet the needs of light, beautiful and professional sports scenes and other leisure occasions through design.
In the human-computer interaction of the product, we need to realize an easy-to-hold product framework for the product, so as to more easily reach all muscle groups of the body, including difficult-to-reach parts such as shoulders and calves, and balance the weight while meeting the target framework.
The research phase helps the design team gain insight into the specific and subtle needs of the product's utility.
Competition feedback and use tests for professional physicians and general users show that product design opportunities include, but are not limited to, bulky equipment and usability to be improved. Specifically, the most difficult position to operate is the back, which will cause muscle tension in the forearm, neck and wrist at the same time.
Based on the research results, the design team found the design entry point, that is, the new product framework can meet the comfortable use of the product with both hands in different positions of the handle, and improve the cantilever problem when using the lower limbs.
Subsequently, different processing forms and mechanical structure module arrangements were explored in depth, and multiple rounds of user testing were conducted with a simple prototype, allowing the design to be modified and optimized in a short period of time.
After further refinement, the team provided three different design concepts showing various uses and unique appearance, with distinctive appearance.
Three innovative concept display: 2020A solves the uncomfortable experience of massage force for different body parts by providing users with multi-angle handles and giving the choice of holding direction.
In view of the weight problem, the heaviest and largest part of the product comes from the motor mechanism and the battery pack, which is the biggest challenge for the lightweight experience of the product. It is also critical that the weight of the user should be balanced when holding different positions of the device, and the design of the handle should be carefully considered to give the best holding position during the use of the device.
The company provides initial ideas on the internal oscillation mechanism and battery layout, and the design team uses these ideas to brainstorm to create the best solution. An innovative configuration was conceived for the internal structure and battery size constraints, and an initial model machine was made to test and validate the concept and design goals.
The product finally entered mass production, and because of the balance of weight and the characteristics of easy access to different parts of the body, it became the sales point of the product.
