On July 9, with the online dynamic appearance of "The Other Sports Car" Emira, Lotus officially bid farewell to the fuel era in the name of wind. In Hainan, China's first province to ban the sale of fuel vehicles, the last fuel sports car was released and a moving front note for driving a new world. From the fuel age to the pure electric wave, Lotus has changed the track and made every effort to speed up.
"Among the world's traditional fuel sports car brands, Lotus is the first to fully transform to electrification."
"Little Evija", continuing the design language of 20 million HYPER CAR
The eye of the wind, the tail wing, and the 1.8-ton downforce. The pure electric supercar Evija released in 2019 refreshed the benchmark position of Lutes aerodynamics in the industry with its shocking design and performance. The Lotus Emira, officially defined as "The Other Sports Car", is a brand-new mid-engine high-end sports car that continues the Evija design language and condenses Lotus's persistent pursuit of aerodynamics.
As the last fuel sports car developed during the strategic transformation of Vision80, Emira can be called the most versatile road sports car in the history of Lutes. In the name of "leader", it has added more practical and comfortable scientific and technological elements. It is not only a swan song in the era of Lutes fuel, but also a weather vane for Lutes to move towards a broader market.
"I have followed Evija's design language lazily, but I do not intend to apologize"-Russell Carr, director of Lotus Automotive Design, gave Emira the soul of "Little Evija.
The design is inspired by the LED headlights painted by Celtic combat, the front hood of the boomerang-shaped airway, and the muscle-filled front wheel arch. Emira draws on the excellent design of the tens of millions of supercars. It not only has a clear streamlined body And simple body lines, it is the only model of the same class that can generate passive downforce at any speed, and it is distributed according to the weight distribution of the front and rear of the vehicle. This means that as the speed increases, the Emira downforce increases, and it can produce excellent grip when passing through corners, while the handling characteristics can remain stable, accurate and predictable.
Emira's nickname is "1.2 meters", which is not only similar in pronunciation, but also because of its driving posture with a height of 1225mm and infinite proximity to the ground. Matching the 20-inch wheel hub, Emira has a lower posture, sinks the cockpit, improves the stability of the body, has a higher roll limit, has a clearer perception of the road surface, restores the purest sports car experience, and returns the "deprived driving feeling".
Emira adopts Lotus's new sports car architecture. The chassis technology adopts Lotus's industry-leading extruded bonded aluminum chassis technology. It is equipped with AMG 2.0T turbocharged engine and 8-speed wet dual clutch transmission. After adjustment by Lotus Project, the power is 360hp, and the acceleration time of 0-100km/h is less than 4. 5S.
F1 world champion Jenson Button became the first driver to test drive Emira and was full of praise for it. "Emira has the right luxury cockpit, the first digital interior, and the ability to grasp the ground at high speed. It can be called a light and agile performance beast. He will soon enter China and other parts of Asia. I hope you all have the opportunity to experience it. You will love this car.
As the most versatile road sports car in Lotus's history, Emira is Lotus's real global new car. Facing a wider audience, it has carried a more diversified product positioning since the beginning of its development. It not only has the same level of leading performance, but also opens Lotus's more powerful product offensive in new fields and new markets. Its attitude clearly expresses Lotus's layout and rhythm of intelligent technology. For the first time in Emira, Lutes has digital interior, KEF audio, Carplay, ACC and other ADAS systems, which provide thoughtful safety configuration while generating minimal interference to the driver and retaining the purest driving experience.
Emira is expected to open pre-sale in China in August this year, and real cars will be unveiled in China in November, when vehicle prices and configurations will be announced and formal orders will be opened. It will serve as a booster for Lotus to further revive its global brand and pave the way for Lotus's next series of new car launches.
"Only those who do not understand aerodynamics will miss large displacement engines."
In the "New World · Front Tune" speech delivered at the event site, Lutes Group CEO Feng Qingfeng expressed his confidence in Lutes's transformation. In the face of a century of changes in the automobile industry, Lotus, who has never been superstitious about "displacement is king", has unlocked the mystery of making cars fly faster and more steadily by virtue of evolving aerodynamics, and has taken the lead in the competition of oil-electricity lane change. Feng Qingfeng recalled in his speech, "In 2018, at a time when the global fuel vehicle production and sales showed a historic growth inflection point, Lotus launched the Vision 80 brand revival plan, the first traditional fuel sports car brand in the world to transform to electrification. In 2019, we released the pure electric supercar Evija, which refreshed the horsepower limit of mass-produced vehicles."
Feng Qingfeng used the sharp conclusion that "in the electric age, zero acceleration is worthless" to explain the aerodynamic performance value of the Lutes pure electric supercar Evija "1kg of air pressure is worth 12,000 pieces", and even emphasized that in the electric age, "Only people who do not understand aerodynamics will miss large-displacement engines."
Stocked memories of the fuel age-speed, wind, pressure, track, hood and sunlight are all here
With the appearance of the last fuel supercar Emira, Lotus also released a fuel perfume-PASSÉ (French: past) to commemorate the glory and achievements of the fuel era. Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus, believes that drivers and cars should achieve the same breath level, that is, "WEAR THE CAR". In the coordination of this breath level, perfume is used as a medium to highlight the intuitive impression that aerodynamics make cars "breathe" by marking the taste of air, which is the origin of "PASSÉ. As the exclusive gift of the first batch of car owners in Emira China, PASSÉ looks like an old-time oil drum and is sealed and packaged in plaster. It condenses the boiling speed, wind, pressure, track, hood and sunshine into a bottle of perfume. This is Lotus's unique way to bid farewell to the fuel era.
Between morning and evening, find the right location, determine the course, to meet the stars of the sea. As Feng Qingfeng concluded in "New World · Front Tune", "This is the 13 1st product and the last fuel car in Lutes's 73-year history. In order to welcome the new era, we completely bid farewell to the past and firmly embrace the future."
