For the 2022 project, the previous design has already been sent on the Hanxiu Design Puxiang. It took two years before I was finally free to re-render the design. People who have seen it should not find it much novel, just remember it for themselves.
This project is my first online product as an ID designer, and it became an explosive soon after it went on the market. First, there was a wave of piracy, and many low-priced pirated and plagiarized products appeared. Then, the folding handle scheme was fully entered. All products, whether new or old, were upgraded, with folding handle shapes. Although I did not make these plans, I also saw the influence of the plans I designed.
Of course, this folding handle is also a design that I borrowed from outdoor products, and it is not original to me.
Project Background: By 2022, small cooking pots will have spread all over the net, but instant cooking pots have just sprouted as a new category. At that time, they were mainly used to cook instant noodles and do some simple cooking. Before the design, Oumu was the first product in this category. The disadvantage was that there was no handle and the plastic cup body was easy to burn. So that led to the idea of making a handle for the instant pot.
Design Idea: As a person who often eats instant noodles, eating instant noodles is naturally a simple and happy thing. Therefore, when designing, I avoided the complicated and retro design thinking at that time, and instead used simple, lively and bold design. After all, what kind of ritual does it take to eat instant noodles? How do you want to eat how to eat the best!
At the same time, people who think of buying this product should mostly live in schools, so the handle is designed to be foldable to make the product more convenient to store, and the packaging and logistics cost of the product can be smaller and more space-saving than the fixed handle.
The earliest design scheme is more vivid and lively, using the contrast color design, now it seems that it should be dopamine style. But for the late landing, color management is also a disaster. The final color was finalized by Daewoo's internal team. The retro red style is indeed a higher grade. My plan also followed Daewoo's Dongfeng to the public's view.
However, in recent months, Daewoo has launched a modified fast food pot, which also uses a color contrast design, which to some extent has returned to the original intention of the design.
