[Jing De Made X Meet Huan]]
Southern Tang • Li Yu
Sileless alone on the west floor, the moon is like a hook.
Lonely phoenix tree deep courtyard lock clear autumn.
Cut constantly, reason also disorderly, is the sorrow of parting.
Don't be the general taste in my heart.
This poem was written during the period when Li Yu was captured and imprisoned in the Song Dynasty. As the last monarch of the Southern Tang Dynasty, he fell from court life into a prisoner's position, and the word "sorrow" is a portrayal of the mental trauma after the country's destruction and family's death.
"Meeting Huan" is about the sorrow of parting, which is specifically expressed as the sorrow of leaving the country (the pain of leaving the country).
Through the scene of climbing the west building alone on autumn night, the whole word interweaves personal loneliness with the hatred of national subjugation, and the emotion is deeply painful.
