Since no optical lens is required, the volume of the scanner is 20 times smaller than the CCD camera usually used, providing greater flexibility for laboratory research. The powerful electric measuring device and the direct optical acquisition method also make the touch imager have higher camera sensitivity than film and CCD.
The touch imager uses an electronic photosensitive display instead of a traditional aperture for data collection, which allows it to conduct biological science experiments on a device as small as a notebook, rather than in a dark room as before.
