With the increasing influence, Thomas undertook the design of the main torch of the London Olympic Games, offering a wonderful visual feast for the whole world. These main torches consist of 204 copper petals, each of which is engraved with the name of the participating country, implying beauty and unity.
This torch "consists of 204 very small parts that can be raised together and finally erected in the middle of the venue. In order to form a perfect petal torch platform, the shapes of these 204 petals are different, and each piece must be guaranteed to form part of the overall torch bronze flower at the correct angle. At the same time, the actual area and weight of each petal must be exactly the same, and the participating countries should not be mistaken for some discrimination in the design of the torch. After the Olympics, each copper petal can be disassembled and given to all countries as a permanent memorial.
