MV30 | Vertical Mouse
MV30 is designed with ergonomics as the core. Through a series of clay models with different shapes and proportions, it repeatedly deliberates the relationship between holding posture and curved surface to explore a more natural and comfortable holding experience.
The appearance design explores from the direction of advanced texture, digital rationality, luxury and delicacy and mechanical tension, and finally chooses the design language of deconstruction and modern simplicity.
Shape the form with ergonomics and comb the lines and blocks with modern design language, so that the holding experience and visual expression are integrated.
Ergonomics Exploration
Clay modeling is one of the most efficient methods for exploring mouse ergonomics. Compared to foam cutting, clay is more conducive to fine-tuning and allows for repeated additions or removals of material, enabling meticulous refinement of surfaces and dimensions. Compared to 3D printing after modeling, it lets us directly experience how the grip changes as we adjust the form. However, this method also requires solid manual shaping skills.
The limitations of modeling clay lie in its weight and tactile feel. We will hollow out the bottom of the model and fill it with lightweight support material, but this still differs significantly from the final plastic part and may affect our assessment of the grip experience.
Therefore, once the clay model is completed, we will use 3D scanning to obtain a digital model and then produce a 3D-printed prototype for further validation. Sometimes, multiple rounds of adjustment and verification are required to determine the ideal form.
Our goal is to make the MV30 feel more natural and comfortable to hold.
CMF design
Through the splicing of color and material, the overall deconstruction design language is continued, so that different regions have both contrast and unity.
In order to take into account the comfort and light weight, the thumb support area is made of soft silicone with secondary injection molding, the rest is made of ABS, and metallic paint is used locally to enrich the surface texture.
The color matching echoes the partition and level of the body, presenting a modern and concise visual style.
