Kunyu Mountain National Forest Park is undergoing a series of facility upgrades. The Reserve Management Committee invited Lab D H to design a demonstration public toilet as a start-up project for facility upgrades. At the beginning of the design, the owner did not think about the specific location of the toilet, and we did not immediately start the design, but launched a site-based research. Knowing that toilets will be built on mountainous areas with complex terrain in the future, we have built a single module system, which can be flexibly combined according to different terrain, so as to be adaptively extended to the entire nature reserve. This idea was supported. Based on this system, the owner and we "phase" together, chose an earth platform with a large change in height difference in the existing alpine botanical garden as the base of the toilet. Through the combination of single modules, a courtyard that conforms to the changes of terrain is generated. The pocket atrium is surrounded by a corridor from time to time, giving the ordinary toilet experience a poetic feeling. The landscape platform set up at the best place in view provides rest and viewing places for waiting family members.
