Gozney, a high-end pizza oven company, is a company that provides stone-baked pizza ovens for commercial and home customers, and is well-known in the industry for its iconic design and excellent cooking performance.
After Gozney made clear that its outdoor firewood pizza oven Dome would be aimed at the UK domestic market, they invited UK IDC to review the preliminary plan and optimize the manufacturing-oriented design.
The UK IDC team conducted a series of brainstorming sessions to conceive many innovative ideas on how to improve the design, including coping with future product size changes and scalable engineering solutions that simplify components to facilitate assembly.
Relying on the team's extensive manufacturing and sheet metal forming experience, we have proposed a new metal external pressure method to adapt to the smooth, dome geometry of the product from a depth and perspective.
The design optimization of manufacturing and assembly maximizes the internal geometry of the oven. The purpose of this design is to ensure the internal shape to control the flame, thus ensuring the excellent cooking performance of the oven.
As soon as the engineering plan was finalized, the team began to focus on improving all design elements of tolerances, finishes and manufacturing.
A special challenge of the project is to develop engineering solutions under the constraints of existing designs.
With close communication and cooperation with Gozney, the project realized from the first preliminary project plan to the completion of proofing within 6 months.
This product won the 2021 Red Dot "Garden Appliances and Instruments" category Product Design Award.
