Many people in product design compare its image to "dancing in shackles". Although this is a bit exaggerated, it is still reasonable.

Product design, especially when the old product is upgraded, the old components are used, and the cost should be saved as much as possible. At this time, our design is relatively limited. This kind of design is both love and hate for designers. What we love is that the project scheme is controllable (the structure will not be easily overturned and changed). What we hate is that the design is limited and the design is boring and the innovation is pitiful. (Of course, many small partners may say that you can use your specialty to persuade customers to redefine this product, but sometimes Party A will comprehensively consider many factors in order to shorten the development cycle and maintain the stability of product performance, and it is difficult for designers to have the opportunity to rethink and innovate this product.)
Let's take a design project in 2016 as an example.

For this product, in order to save costs, the customer requires the front panel to open the mold as much as possible, and the rear body still adopts sheet metal process. Therefore, we have redesigned the main appearance surface. In order to ensure the coordination of the product, we have also designed the shape of the ice cream pressing valve.

In order to further reduce the cost, the panel design should consider two compatibility situations: one is compatible with touch screen and the other is compatible with light box. That is, you can replace it with an advertising light box when you don't use a large screen (as shown in the figure below).

In the modeling design, our design is more streamlined: on the one hand, the front panel is in direct contact with the user, and the streamlined affinity is better; On the other hand, we want to create the soft characteristics of ice cream, so we specially design the front panel into a shape with a certain sense of flow. In addition, the small operation screen is slightly shifted to one side and formed into a certain angle (this is not only convenient to watch the operation, but also has a certain area division). Later, the disassembled parts were appropriately modified during the structure, as can be seen in the following figure. For the convenience of care, the basic design of the surface is relatively simple.
