[Preface]]
The author used to be a drone designer and a drone enthusiast. It is also a great honor to do the Mavic 2 Pro evaluation for Puxiang this time. This time I will do some simple evaluation for you from the designer's point of view. For the first time, I will do the evaluation. Please forgive me for any shortcomings.
[Background]]
Since Dajiang acquired Hasselblad, Dajiang finally released Dajiang's first unmanned aerial vehicle Mavic 2 Pro ("Royal" Mavic 2 Professional Edition) with Hasselblad lens on August 23 this year, along with its brother Mavic 2 Zoom ("Royal" Mavic 2 Zoom Edition). This time, it was fortunate to be entrusted by Puxiang Network to make a simple evaluation of Mavic 2 Pro.
Dajiang's evaluation of this drone on the official website is "foldable Phantom 4 professional version". In my opinion, this drone is undoubtedly a lifting of all consumer drones owned by Dajiang. Compared with his eldest brother Mavic Pro, all performance has been greatly improved. Not long ago, DJI also raised the price of this product by 400 yuan, and the price reached 9888.
[Unpacking]]
Since the unmanned aerial vehicle is not brand-new, it is simply unpacked. The packaging is still the familiar "apple style". The white shell is very simple. The front and back sides are the folding and unfolding drawings of Mavic 2 Pro respectively, which completely continues the previous unmanned aerial vehicle packaging design of Dajiang.
The interior is a black flip box, but this time the interior box is different from other unmanned aerial vehicles and is very ceremonial when opened.
Because this evaluation is the basic model, there are no previous accessories such as Mavic Pro storage bag, blade protection frame, multi-charge and so on, only Mavic 2 Pro and its matching remote controller and single-charge charger, as well as basic data cables and instructions.
The folded state of the drone
The unfolding state of the unmanned aerial vehicle can be seen that the Mavic 2 Pro has some changes with the previous unmanned aerial vehicle blades. the noise reduction blades of mavic pro platinum version are adopted. the propeller surface is larger, there is a prominent shape on the top, the propeller effect is higher, and the noise is reduced by 60% compared with mavic pro, but in fact it is only 4DB, so...... It's still noisy!
[Appearance of UAV]]
In order to compare this evaluation, Mavic Pro was specially used as a reference!
Mavic 2 Pro has a folding size of 214 × 91 × 84mm, an unfolded size of 322 × 242 × 84 mm and a weight of 907g.
Mavic Pro has a folding size of 198 × 83 × 83mm, an unfolded size of 305 × 244 × 85 mm and a weight of 734g.
It can be seen from the data that the Mavic 2 Pro is larger than the first generation, has a longer wheelbase, and of course its weight is 173g more. This weight has changed greatly for a UAV.
From the top point of view, Mavic 2 Pro has optimized the aerodynamic design on the basis of Mavic Pro, which reduces the air resistance of Mavic 2 in high-speed flight by 19%, and the maximum flight speed can be increased to 72 km/h in sports mode, which is more slender and rounded than the first generation product, with more tension and stronger layering on the back lines. The most obvious change of the back is besides increasing the top infrared obstacle avoidance, is the switch button and indicator light.
The four-point smart battery indicator light that DJI has been using for many years was completely discarded on the Mavic 2 Pro and replaced by the ring indicator light around the button. When the button is pressed, the ring light is divided into four pieces to display the battery power and The switch indication is also a major breakthrough in design.
However, in terms of identification, it seems that the four-point type is more intuitive, because the ring lamp is integrated, so there is a running light problem. I believe that the following products will also use this indicator light, but it still needs improvement.
Binocular obstacle avoidance system is an obstacle avoidance system used by Dajiang in almost every product (Spark does not have it in consumer unmanned aerial vehicles). Previously, the cameras on both sides of mavic pro were independent mold division, while the one-piece design was adopted on Mavic 2 pro. Therefore, everyone will see that a mold division line is added to the top of Mavic 2 pro, which should be to solve the mold opening problem here.
On the side of Mavic Pro, compared with Yinglang, almost all parts are straight lines, which is slightly thinner than the second generation.
On the side of Mavic 2 pro, it can be seen that both the fuselage and the arm are more rounded, the overall shape is full, and the parting line is very different from the first generation of products.
The shape of the battery part has changed obviously, and the partition at the position of the rear arm is thicker.
The battery capacity of Mavic 2 pro is 3850 mAh, while the battery capacity of Mavic pro is 3830 mAh, which is only 20mAH difference. However, with the weight gain of the UAV 173g, the official endurance time has increased by 4 minutes, thus it can be seen that Dajiang has made great efforts in the fuselage and oar effect of the UAV.
Inside the fuselage after the battery is pulled out, it is not difficult to see from the figure that the interface position of the battery has been changed from the front top to the back bottom, and the shapes are different.
As of this picture, it can be found that this Mavic 2 Pro is completely new. It looks roughly the same as Mavic pro, but it is completely different. This is a new Mavic in essence.
In terms of arm, the arm of Mavic 2 Pro is more round and slender, and it is composed of two sections. The parting is also very design-oriented. Of course, silk screen printing has also changed with the parting line.
In the motor part, the motor of Mavic 2 Pro is higher, and a metal motor seat is added at the bottom, which is more stable in combination with the arm, and the heat dissipation is also better, and the motor performance is also improved.
The arm indicator light, from the previous horizontal protruding section to the current vertical integration, not only saves space, but also has a sense of design. This design is similar to the indicator light of Dajiang's professional UAV "Wu" Inspire 2.
In contrast to the tail, a binocular obstacle avoidance system is added to the tail of Mavic 2 Pro, but the obstacle avoidance range is 16 to 32 m, which is relatively weak compared with the 20 to 40 m of the front binocular obstacle avoidance. The original tail indicator is canceled, and the rear air outlet is changed from the original grid shape to a mesh shape, and the area is smaller, which is more integrated with the fuselage.
Compared with the side of the tail, both sides of the tail of Mavic 2 Pro have added a monocular obstacle avoidance system on the left and right on the original basis. This is also the first time that Dajiang UAV has a monocular obstacle avoidance system on the side. The obstacle avoidance range is 0.5 to 10 m, which is much worse than the front and rear binocular, but it is better than nothing.
Compared with the bottom, the bottom is the biggest part of this change. In addition to canceling the design of the previous heat sink in form and becoming more integrated, Dajiang has canceled the optical flow system that has been used for many years, which is a combination of dual ultrasonic waves and single camera. This system can be understood by everyone. The main purpose is to make the UAV hover motionless by using ultrasonic height and camera positioning when the UAV loses GPS signal, this time, it was replaced by a new system combining two cameras and infrared rays, and two LED supplementary lights were added.
The purpose of adding supplementary light lamps may be that Dajiang hopes that the UAV can make the optical flow system work more stably at night, because this system is similar to the front and rear binocular, and the use environment requires rich texture on the ground and sufficient lighting conditions.
Therefore, I would like to remind you that if there are walls such as glass mirrors around the UAV, the UAV is likely to have an accident because it cannot be sensed.
Yuntai protective cover, the original protective frame consists of two parts to protect Yuntai and camera respectively, which is very troublesome to install. However, this time DJI has redesigned the Yuntai protective cover to become a whole, similar to Mavic Air's protective cover, which is more protective, more convenient to install and praised!
Next is the pan-tilt camera part that everyone pays attention to. Mavic 2 Pro is equipped with Hasselblad L1D-20c professional camera, built-in 1 inch 20 million pixel COMS sensor, 1 billion colors, 4K HDR video, and variable aperture. The hasselblad words on the front of the lens make this unmanned aerial vehicle look full.
The performance is strong, of course, the shape is different. The new Hasselblad lens adopts a square design, which is believed to save more space. Because this lens is really large, it also adopts an enhanced pan-tilt design, because the original small pan-tilt is no longer enough to keep this powerful lens stable, thus occupying the space of the air duct air inlet at the rear of the original pan-tilt.
Mavic Pro's pan-tilt camera has a whole grid-shaped air inlet behind it, which forms an air duct with the tail air outlet seen before to dissipate heat for internal components.
The reinforced gimbal of Mavic 2 Pro occupies all the positions of the original air inlet, and all the air inlet of the air duct has to be changed to both sides of the fuselage.
The front side air inlet, rear side air outlet and tail air outlet of Mavic 2 Pro form a new air duct
Having said so much about the improvement and new design of Mavic 2 Pro, of course, there are also some deficiencies. The square cover on the inside of the arm is not as exquisite as Mavic Pro's workmanship, but rather rough and feels colored.
The other one is more obvious. There are two arms that interfere with the fuselage when they are folded. It needs to be forced to push down to reset the arm. Although it has little effect on the whole machine, scratches may occur after a long time. In addition, patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder may find it difficult to accept.
[Remote Control]]
After that, the unmanned aerial vehicle will look at the remote controller again. This time, it not only brought the remote controller of Mavic Pro, but also the remote controller of Mavic Air, because the remote controller of Mavic 2 Pro may be a combined enhanced version of the two remote controllers. In addition to the screen of Mavic Pro, it also has the detachable joystick of Mavic Air, which makes the remote controller have strong portability on the basis.
There is not much change in the shape of the remote controller, but the color matching person still thinks that the previous black looks better. Changing to gray may be to keep the same tone as the plane.
In terms of details, the top heat dissipation area and heat dissipation aperture of the new remote controller are larger, and the heat dissipation effect is better.
On the other hand, the new remote control buttons and rollers have a larger area, so the operation is more convenient and the hand feel is slightly better. It is difficult to find without comparison.
Another obvious difference lies in the clamping position, which has an extra gap than the previous remote controller. After studying for half a day at the beginning, it was found that there was no need for this gap in the remote controller's self-generated position until the following figure......

When I installed the mobile phone, I found that these two gaps just avoided the home key and the top earpiece position of the mobile phone. It did block a small part of the previous remote control. It was difficult to press the home key. DJI did a good job in this detail design.
Of course, the overall design of this remote controller is also very convenient and small. Therefore, it is really difficult to clamp a slightly larger mobile phone (the size of 7PLUS in the figure is very difficult to clamp). Of course, it is definitely necessary to remove the mobile phone case, especially the thick one. After the mobile phone is placed, it must be squeezed into the middle with great force to clamp the mobile phone, for fear of bending the mobile phone...
[Flight Part]]
The remote control has been taken out and it must be a flight. I won't say much about one-button take-off. Mavic 2 Pro adopts a new image transmission system OcuSync 2.0, which can realize 1080P full HD image transmission within 8 kilometers. Relatively speaking, it is 1 kilometer longer than Mavic Pro's 7 kilometers image transmission distance, and the image transmission is also very smooth, there was no phenomenon of Caton (here, I would like to complain about Mavic Air's 4km WIFI map transmission. As soon as the plane took off, the map transmission lost its signal. There was still some wind on the day of flight, but the plane hovered very smoothly after taking off, indicating that the new version of the optical flow system was still very successful. In addition, Mavic 2 Pro has 8GB of on-board storage space and supports Micro SD card expansion, which was implemented on Mavic Air released in January this year, so as to avoid forgetting to insert Micro SD card and affecting flight.
The weather on the day of the flight was still good. Although the wind was relatively strong, it did not affect the flight of the plane. The plane was very stable and moved very flexibly, front and back, left and right. Personally, I like American hands, and the operation feel was still very "big border". Although the noise after take-off was lower than that of the first generation, it was still very big. The average person would feel a little panic when listening to it, don't get too close to the plane, the blades are still quite lethal.
There are some parameter settings inside (one needs to be reminded that the flying place is not limited to altitude at that time and can be adjusted to 500m altitude, but the national law stipulates 120m, so if it is not very necessary, try to keep flying below 120m, safety first)
The flight is a sports mode (fast speed and very exciting, and small white players suggest flying for a period of time before driving). When the plane flies to 22 minutes, the remaining power is 20%, and the unmanned aerial vehicle will issue a low power alarm. For safety reasons, it will land directly, showing the remaining flight time of 5 minutes. However, the landing time is generally selected according to the distance and height of the unmanned aerial vehicle to ensure the safe landing of the unmanned aerial, the flight time in sport mode is about 25 minutes, and the flight time in P mode will be slightly longer, so it is still a few minutes higher than Mavic Pro. Of course, the official 31 minutes is definitely a theoretical time, which can be used as a reference.
As can be seen from the figure, the maximum speed in sport mode reaches 72.9 km/h, which is slightly faster than the official 72 km/h. Of course, the normal mode is definitely not up to it. The red box is the flight record of PHANTOM 4 PRO, which can reach 75.3 km/h at the fastest.
After flying, I must say that I took the shot. The red frame in the picture is the specific parameters of Hasselblad lens.
The following are some samples of photos without ps. My shooting skills are average, so you can look at them for reference. There are many photos taken by players in the official forum "Sky City" in Xinjiang. They are very beautiful and you can learn from them.
However, one thing I have to say this time is that Mavic 2 Pro's pan-tilt camera can flip up to a certain angle (the average unmanned aerial vehicle is flipped horizontally to 90 degrees downward). This is not advertised by them, but this is very practical. If you want to shoot the sky, you don't have to fly so high. This is a compliment!
[Flight Mode]]
This time, due to time reasons, there is no in-depth study of the flight mode. I can only give you some references from the official video, mainly some improved and new modes.

[Summary]]
Compared with Mavic Pro, the Mavic 2 Pro UAV released by Dajiang this time has indeed improved qualitatively. It integrates the performance of "Wizard 4" with the portability of Mavic Pro, the blessing of Hasselblad lens and the addition of a new mode. From all aspects, the playability is very high, and the average person is completely enough. Of course, it needs to be equipped with two more batteries and storage bags. If there are higher, then it is recommended to go to professional unmanned aerial vehicles above "enlightenment.
Generally speaking, if economic conditions permit, you can start with one. Even Xiaobai is easy to get started. Finally, it is a friendly reminder to pay attention to flight safety.
This is the end of the evaluation. If you find any problems in the middle, please correct me a lot. Thank you!
